We are presently setting up our experiment. The first goal is to laser cool and trap atoms in a magneto optical trap. They serve as the core processor for any quantum information and technology device based on cold atoms. In a second step we aim to load arrays of optical tweezers from the MOT. Each of the tweezers will trap a single atom as a qubit. The technique allows to fabricate 1D, 2D and 3D arrays of qubits, which provides a natural architecture for scaling up the number of qubits in a quantum computer.
